Next Steps

Everyone is at a different spot in their journey with Jesus, and everyone is at a different level of busy. Mount Olive has a variety of resources to help you grow in your Christian faith.

First-time Guests

Going into a church for the first time can be quite intimidating. What are the people going to do to me? What goes on there? What should I wear? The answer to the first question is the people will welcome you into the church. During a church service, you are free to sit wherever you would like, but by sitting in the back, you will have the opportunity to see how everyone else is engaging in the service. From the pews the people will sing, listen to the Scriptures, and pray to God for the many ways he is significant in our life. As for what you wear, you are free to come in your Sunday best three piece suit or in your work clothes for the day, but most people will come in with whatever better looking clothes they have and desire to wear for the service.

Opportunities for Personal Growth

The main ministry purpose for Mount Olive is to preach and teach the Good News of Jesus Christ. When God’s Word is spoken and discussed, God can transform the lives of all who hear it in many different ways. God’s Word can also be a refreshing reminder that we have a loving and dependable God that has given us a hopeful future. Below you will find ways the church has made God’s Word relevant to people’s lives.

CONFIRMATION
A full blown two-year Christian basics class is usually taught to middle school students. You can see the last one-year class to the small group of students on YouTube. However, even adults who are wanting to understand the Christian faith through a Lutheran perspective are welcome to meet with the pastor. The hope is that once a person has a basic understanding of the Christian faith, then they can be a part of the church community and, when desiring to serve others, take a leadership position.

BIBLE STUDIES
There was one Bible Study where we looked at the Scriptures to see how God's people have worshiped God in a community of people. ( Worship Bible Study ) But most times we examine a book of the Bible to hear about what God desires for his people. We look at God's message to the first readers of the book, and how the book is also significant for us today.
CHILDREN'S CHURCH SUNDAY
On the first Sunday of the month, the little ones in the family are given the opportunity to learn a Bible lesson with a lesson plan taught at the church, or taught at home. The hope is that even at a young age, the children will know and value how much God loves them, and how to embrace this relationship even outside of the church.

DEVOTIONALS
Many have found their faith nourished and strengthened by reading some sort of devotional. Most devotionals are written so that a person can have a new devotion for each new day. Some read them in print in a booklet, while others read it off of their electronic device. But whatever you prefer, below are some devotionals that may relate to your life.
